We Need Help With Rocco!7 Year Old Pit BullRocco ended up at the county shelter as a stray about two years ago. He was adopted out only to return as a stray twice. He was then adopted and returned shortly afterwards. The shelter felt that he wasn't going to find the right family at the shelter and asked us to take him into our adoption program. Rocco was a favorite with everyone staff and volunteers alike but he wasn't the best candidate for rescue. For one, he wasn't young. He had skin problems and a heart murmur. Although he'd passed several dog-to-dog interactions, he'd been aggressive with one dog. A volunteer found a foster parent for him and we went with our hearts and took him into our program. Things went well at his foster home until he broke out one day, looking for his foster mom. The insecurity in his life had left him with some separation anxiety and he didn't do well on his own. The landlord was not happy with the damage to the screen and we weren't comfortable with him wandering around by himself and so we put him in a secure boarding kennel while we looked for a new foster home for him. In the meantime, we took him to training for his dog aggression, worked on his separation anxiety and his skin problems. After being boarded for months, we moved him to a foster/rehabilitation facility. When he first got there, he got into a few fights with a female lab. She always came out on top; he's not as tough as he looks. Now, after several months, he is getting on well with his three doggy companions. He also spends a lot of time at a swim facility for dogs where he's made a few doggy friends. There's one dog, a male shepherd mix, that he adores and showers with kisses. Rocco's come a long way since we got him over a year ago. His skin has healed but there are a few patches that may never grow back. In spite of all that life has thrown at him, Rocco is never sad; he has a happy soul. Please Sponsor Rocco! Thanks to the rehabilitation center, we've been able to reduce his boarding costs to about $450 per month. We haven't given up hope of finding this special boy a forever home but we need help with his costs. Please help by sponsoring him for just $20 a month, for 2 months or up to 12 months. Any spare funds will be put towards an operation to fix his hernia. Once he's been placed in a permanent home, we'll cancel your subscription if it's still active.
